The Green Project is soliciting applicants to serve on our Board of Directors. We are seeking candidates who bring experience, diversity and leadership qualities to the organization that will strengthen our ability to move our mission forward and ensure continued growth.

Applications will be accepted to fill board seats for two-year terms beginning March 2024 to June 2026. The Board of Directors will process all applications and nominate qualified candidates that meet current needs and will best represent The Green Project in the community.

About the Green Project: Serving New Orleans since 1994, The Green Project's mission is to promote a culture of creative reuse by diverting usable materials from landfills and cultivating a respect for their value. We do so through three main pathways: our low-cost Salvage Store, community Paint Recycling Program, and free K-12 Environmental Education Program. By selling used and teaching about reuse, we are able to keep usable goods out of the landfill and nearby waterways, preserve historic architectural pieces and educate residents about environmental issues. About the Board of Directors: The Board of Directors serves community interests by participating in efforts to effectively pursue the Green Project’s mission, develop policies and procedures to govern The Green Project, oversee the Executive Director position, monitor and support the overall sustainability and programmatic impact, and provide support to the Executive Director and staff as requested.

Board Members pledge to:

●Work cohesively with other board members to collectively guide the organization's work.

●Steward the organization through active engagement in meetings, strategic planning and policy decisions.

●Make personal contributions of time and resources to The Green Project and fundraise on behalf of the organization.

●Represent The Green Project in the community.

●Participate in vital committee work that furthers the organization’s mission, programs and development.

●Inform themselves of the organization’s work and build relationships with staff.

In turn, Board Members contribute to an important piece of New Orleans’ environmental, educational and sustainability efforts. You can expect to join a team-focused environment that fosters the development of individual board members and the organization as a whole.
